Bill: To convert the U.S. number system to the metric system

Pros:
  • Used by 95% of all countries in the worlds.
  • Medicines are measured in metric system.
  • Goes by 10s while customary goes by 12s.
  • Students could learn measurements in math easier.
  • It would be easier for the world to communicate.
  • Easier for international companions.
  • Kids must learn the metric system in science classes either way.
  • Several other countires have already changed from a customoary system to metric.

Cons:

  • Too much changing, like football fields, gas pumps, clothing and shoe sizes, speed
  • limit signs, scales, thermometers, etc.
  • Too bizarre.
  • Already in major debt, we would just be adding to that.
  • Hard for people to adjust to.
  • Costs $370 million to change.
